Subject: Re: Indian Holiday
Just wanted to thank you for organising our India trip. We feel overall it was a success and a good introduction to the India.
You asked for some feedback, so I hope the following is helpful:
Services of your staff - always punctual at airport and helpful Drivers, Vijay - very good driver, pleasant, punctual and always knew how long each trip would last and when we should depart. We felt he looked after us very well.
Nitu (of Rishi tours) good driver. Transport, Toyota Innova was a very good choice of car, good visibility and comfy. We enjoyed the long journeys as there was always something fascinating going on at the roadside. Hotels: City Park Delhi, nice hotel but a bit far from centre Fort Pushkar, good
Ram Pratrap Palace, Udaipur, nice hotel, good position, good restaurant by lakeside.
Camp Siana, although quite basic we really enjoyed this camp (luckily able to stay in camp as they thought we were booked into village property). Eating breakfast at sunrise was a highlight. Not quite the program we were expecting, but very enjoyable stay, made extra special by seeing a leopard on both evening game drives. Park Plaza, Jodhpur, the best modern hotel we stayed at. Good all round.
Narayan Niwas Palace, Jaisalmer, Lovely public spaces, slightly gloomy bedroom, rather ordinary restaurant. Service a bit haphazard, but overall a good place to stay.
Desert Camp Jaisalmer, would not recommend this to anyone. Very shabby, and according to one Indian guest who inspected the kitchens, "they have no regard for anyone's heath".
We were befriended by a group of 8 Indian guests, so quite enjoyed ourselves, but didn't like the location right on the road. Our camel safari lasted only 10 minutes and we were left on the dunes "to wait for sunset" which was two hours away. (We left and went walking on the dunes instead!) The dancing was quite good.
Shanti Palace, Delhi, adequate airport hotel. (Thanks for changing our last night to avoid two long airport to hotel transfers.)
Agra, Howard Park Plaza, nice hotel, good location.
Khajuraho, Ramada Plaza, nice hotel, good location.
Bandhavgarh, Tiger's Den, our favourite place to stay. The staff were so welcoming and obliging, the food good and the atmosphere something special.
Chitvan, Kanha. Nice lodge, friendly staff, good barbeque by the pool (best naan bread we had in India!). Game drive in morning rather long, so felt not long enough to enjoy facilities at the lodge, especially the swimming pool, which although a bit on the cool side was very pleasant after very dusty game drives, and the only pool we swam in during our holiday.
We would certainly use your servivces again for another trip to India, and would recommend you to anyone wishing to visit.
I expect we will make a return trip to India in the next few years, so if you have any unusual suggestions which might tempt us back, especially with a bit more outdoor activity, riding or hiking, we would be grateful for a quick email.
Thank you again for your help. It was nice to meet Manjeet.
